きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ (Kyari Pamyu Pamyu) - Candy Candy

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (a.k.a. Kiriko Takemura) is a model, entrepreneur and singer from the Harajuku district of Tokyo.

Kyary first started off as a fashion blogger, then she became a teenage model for Harajuku fashion magazines such as Kera! and Zipper. Soon afterwards she became famous in the fashion scene and she launched a line of fake eyelashes and appeared in many fashion shows.

In July 2011, she began her musical career by releasing her first single PonPonPon.

In August 2011 she released her second single Jelly and in December of the same year, she released her third single Tsukema Tsukeru.
Kyari has recently (April 2012) released another single called Candy Candy.

I would classify Kyari's music under the genre Lolita kei mainly due to the type of clothing and accessories she wears. Her songs and music videos are very cheerful, "childish", cute and involves fantasy themes.

I really can't explain why I love Kyari so much. Her voice and the music she makes just captivates me. Well, this is clearly not the style of music that I am interested in, but I guess one can always find time to fit in cute girls dancing weird dances and pouting with cute puppy dog eyes.

Anime Review: Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai

What do you get if you combine a totally otaku guy, dating sims, comedy, romance and supernatural powers? Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai that is. Somehow this anime connects the dots of such topics into one smoothly transitioned anime. This review also takes the sequel, Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai II into account.

Kami nomi zo Shiru SekaiSynopsis:
Keima Katsuragi, a second-year high school student, is an avid dating sim gamer. He is known on the Internet as "The Capturing God" for his legendary skills to be able to "capture" any 2D girl in games. However, in his actual school life, Keima is known as otamegane, a derogatory portmanteau of the two words otaku (オタク) and megane (メガネ-"glasses").

At the start of the series, Keima receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts what is thought to be a challenge, and a demon from Hell nicknamed Elsie appears. She asks for his cooperation to help her in catching the runaway spirits. These spirits hide themselves inside the girl's heart, and Elsie suggests that the only method to force the spirits out is by "capturing" their hearts—making them fall in love. Appalled by the idea, Keima refuses after clarifying to Elsie that he is only interested in "capturing" 2D girls and that he detests reality. Nevertheless, with the contract already accepted, Keima would have to help Elsie no matter what; if they fail, both Elsie and Keima would lose their heads.

At first the anime may seem a bit cheesy but as the main story gets unravelled you come to realize that the anime isn't that bad at all. Keima can be considered as a low-life with no friends at all. However, with the help of Elsie, he develops a more open personality and discovers a world outside of his 2D games. I found the story both interesting and entertaining as it slowly changes Keima from a 'zombie' to a more 'lively' person. Of course there are mishaps and misunderstandings along the way - but that's the fun in it! You got to love a classic romantic comedy anime that has a otaku main character.

I would say the art wasn't that overly exciting but man, the characters were just cute! Obviously this anime was probably based off some dating sim game but the characters all do look natural and not overly 'stylized'. Apart from that, the many different sceneries were well illustrated with some nice undertones and light filtering. Also, I have to mention to 'in-game' art styles that often pop-up during the anime that may confuse you from what is happening.

The voice acting was perfect with no annoyances or hiccups. The background music suited the theme perfectly and the use of dramatic background music really put me in the mood. Ok maybe not so much, but if you an otaku like me then you probably understand what I am saying. Anyhow, I have got to say,  the cute voices of the characters will never bore me.

As such, my favourite character would definitely be Haqua - the tsundere type character. Moving on, Keima isn't so bad once you get to understand his background and his feelings. So you somehow show some pity for him. Elsie will definitely make you laugh, her funny attitude and naive personality never gets boring. Overall, the other girls that Keima has to 'capture' all have different personalities so there is a variety here.

Overall, it was fun and entertaining to watch. There are many funny parts mixed in, but mostly just watching the relationships form with many misunderstandings are just amusing to watch. So if you are into the romantic comedy type anime, this will probably satisfy you enough to want to watch to the end. This anime is definitely not for the action/thriller/horror type of people.

It's a straightforward story which you will understand right from the beginning. Not many plot twists but is still entertaining.

ART: 7
The characters are cute and the art style suits the anime.

Perfect voice acting and suitable theme songs.

You got to love the variety of characters presented here and their relationships with each other.

Fun to watch and get entertained by all those mishaps.

It's not overly exciting to watch, maybe more for fun I guess. Suitable for romantic comedy people.
