Doctor Who TARDIS PC lands on Earth

We suppose, in a sense, that this officially licensed and configurable TARDIS PC from Scan UK could be thought of as being bigger on the inside.

The 11th Doctor's TARDIS can now fly you into cyberspace. Scan UK has launched a PC shaped like the iconic blue police call box — and to be configured to the user's specifications.

Built to scale out of brushed aluminium, the chassis is assembled from 45 pieces and finished, Scan said, in the TARDIS' official Pantone blue.

But what's inside the box? The base specs, which come in at £935.99 (AU$1431.58), are pretty basic:

  • Dr Who TARDIS PC Chassis
  • Intel Pentium G2120 dual core, 3.1GHz
  • Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3, Intel H61
  • 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz
  • 500GB Western Digital HDD
  • 300W be quiet! BN133 SFX Micro-ATX PSU
  • Sony Blu-ray Writer
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Premium 64bit

Maxed out, it has an Intel Core i7 3770s quad-core processor, 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3, 2GB XFX HD 6670 800MHz GPU graphics card, 480GB Corsair Force Series 3 hard drive and Windows 8, coming in at £1933.16 (AU$2957.32). Pretty hefty dollars for something you won't even be able to do any high-end gaming on.

And for something that embodies the ability to go anywhere, or any-when in the universe, official Doctor Who-licensed goods sure have a hard time travelling around our tiny blue planet — the TARDIS PC is available only to customers in the UK.
