Introducing Meebo

You may have noticed already that I have already added a 'Meebo' chat box to the blog. You can access it via the 'Chatter' tab. This is basically a instant messaging platform that enables you to communicate with peers in real-time.

In addition, I have added a 'Meebo Bar' to the blog. If you look at the bottom of your screen, you will notice a white bar across the blog. This is the multi-purpose 'Meebo Bar' which allows you to post comments to various social networking sites, share links or pages, view the instant chat client as well as access you various other social instant messaging platforms (MSN, Facebook, GTalk etc...). I hope that these new services will be of use to you.

Finally, if you have any suggestions or comments about changes made or what you would like to see in the future, feel free to drop a comment in the 'Meebo Chat' box and I will assist as soon as possible.

Anime Review: Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai

A decent anime with a rather generic storyline about a misunderstood guy who does not have any friends, which meets a classmate in a similar situation and they decide to form a club to find more friends.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga SukunaiSynopsis:
Hasegawa Kodaka has transferred schools, and he's having a hard time making friends. It doesn't help that his blond hair tends to make people think he's a delinquent. One day, he runs into his bad-tempered solitary classmate Yozora while she's talking animatedly to her imaginary friend Tomo. Realizing that neither of them have any actual friends, they decide that the best way to alter this situation is to form a club and start recruiting.

That is how “Rinjinbu”, The Neigbours’ Club, was formed, a club specifically designed for people who don’t have very many friends. As other lonely classmates slowly join their little club, they’ll try to learn how to build friendships through cooking together, playing games, and other group activities. But will this group of relationship-challenged misfits really be able to get along?

With a rather generic storyline you would think that this anime is totally not worth watching, however the occasional funny scenes as well as some interesting rivalry between members makes up for the anime. However, in the end, it can be said as a temporary time waster anime for those fans who are seriously into romantic or comedic genres. This anime can be said of more slice of life with a mixture of dry comedy and interesting characters. By no means will this anime want to make you rewatch it for a second time.

I have to admit that the art did take some time to get used to. For the first episode, I somehow kept staring at the character's noses as if there was something missing or tweaked. Then as I watched, I got familiar with this art style. Its unrealistic to an extent, but not too unrealistic to make this anime into a fantasy/sci-fi film. The background scenery was decently illustrated with some nice lighting and visual effects.

Ok so its been a while since I've watched this anime and I don't quite remember any of the opening or closing theme songs. This just definitely proves that the music overall didn't affect me much now. I may have overlooked some dramatic scenes that featured appropriate music, but I'm making a huge guess here. The voice acting was decent, the voice actors weren't so memorable. Overall, I would say that sound quality was average.

The characters were definitely memorable from their looks. The main protagonist with his bright yellow hair is hard to forget even after watching this anime a few months ago. In the end, I loved the many costume changes and the interesting relationships that form or break throughout the anime.

Overall, this anime does have some unrealistic funny elements but may not be enough to compensate to the overall story. One suggestion I would like to make is that if you have limitless time in the world, this anime may be worth watching to take off those extra boredom hours of your life. Other than that, it's a decent anime for slice of life fans to watch.

Not much of a story here. Just some funny scenes and a couple of rivalry scenes thrown in. By no means should you watch this anime just because of the story.

ART: 7
Took some time to get used to, but eventually I did. I still can't stop staring at the faces as if there's something wrong. Otherwise, the scenery is good.

I certainly did not remember any of the opening or closing songs. The voice characters were average. In the end, it did not really matter.

There were some cute and interesting characters with varied personalities throughout the anime. I was slightly annoyed at some hair colour choices though.

Its funny in some bit and boring in others. The everyday life of a lonely guy can be interesting or downright boring depending on what type of person you are.

Not bad but not excellent. If the story was improved dramatically and the characters portrayed better, this would have been a better anime.

Vocaloid vs K-Pop

Oh hey guys! I made a shocking discovery.

Whilst listening through my recently downloaded Vocaloid albums, I came across this one called "Revolution Boi VS Agent Smith". It turned out to be a mixture of remixes of K-Pop and Vocaloid. I was surprised yet impressed that such thing existed.

I wasn't paying attention to what I was listening to because you know, 103GB worth of music obviously needs to be on repeat. Suddenly, I heard the tune 'Hoot' (SNSD) play in a remixed version. I was like 'What the - '? Then I looked at the album then Googled the name, then I was like 'Oh!'. And so, this ends my shocking discovery of a mashed compilation of remixed songs of Vocaloid and K-Pop. I must say, its a pretty good album. If you are into Vocaloid and K-Pop then this album you must definitely get.

Anime Review: Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica

This anime may seem cute and 'moe' at first, but it definitely far from it. Even though the characters lack fierceness, the drama, action, hatred, revenge, love and suffering seen throughout this anime really makes up for a psychological thriller anime.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★MagicaSynopsis:
Beloved family, good friends, laughter and tears - these things make up the ordinary life of Kaname Madoka, a second year student of Mitakihara City Middle School. One night, Madoka dreams of a mysterious dark haired girl struggling against a terrible evil; the next morning she discovers that the girl, Akemi Homura, has transferred into her class. This encounter will lead to an incident which will alter Madoka's fate forever.

This anime controversial in many ways. Let me begin with its context and theme. This is is definitely not a cute anime and it shouldn't be considered one. The portrayal of the characters and art style maybe contradicting to a dark anime, but after you start watching and find out more about the background and story, you will agree that this anime has a darker meaning behind it. The anime has a mixture of many dramatic themes such as love, hate and betrayal. Thus, it brings out many emotions at mixed levels. You will definitely feel that the story was well described and concluded. I cannot say much here as not to spoil the affect that this anime has on the audience.

The art style can be said as contradictory to one another. The cute portrayal of the characters and the dark, evil settings are evidently clashed together in many mixed scenes. Once you get over the fact  that the characters are 'moe' you will definitely see the darker side eventually. The use of dark undertones and bright colours clashing with each other really brings out the unique art style of this anime that not many other anime have successfully accomplished.

The theme songs were catchy enough and the voice acting was perfect as usual. Not much to expect spectacularly from here, although the sound effects were well used. The change in environments and the dramatic background music really set the feeling and mood right for the anime.

The characters were all cute and 'moe'-until you watched on. They may seem nice and cute at the start, but as you will discover, not all characters are what they seem. There are shocking discoveries and surprising moments that will leave you asking - why? You will really feel for the character as they interact with each other due to love, hate and ambition. This anime really portrayed the characters completely in a different sense of style.

Overall, all I can say that I really enjoyed this anime. There are not much anime quite like this since there is pretty much a lack of interest in such themes. The last anime that was distinctly similar to this one was decent enough but did not make the top list. However, this anime has suprised many people at how good it is. In the end, I wish there will be a second season as I still have many questions left unanswered. I know that this won't happen because of how the story ended. You will have to watch it completely to find out.

A bit confusing at the start, but details are slowly revealed in a linear direction. You will come to understand more and more as you watch.

ART: 8
What can I say? It shows cute girls in cute uniforms and twinkly atmospheres. Right! To an extent.

Good voice acting and catchy theme songs. Good use of intense background music in appropriate moments.

I loved the characters and how different they were with one another. Each had its own unique colour and ability.

Loved the story and the drama. Even though some questions remained, the story was well told and if necessary explained well in detail.

Its an intense and cute anime with dark themes. You may think its innocent but I say, its far from it.

My LUL #3

Hey, its that time again when I'm bored and waiting for the clock to turn.

So I have been downloading this massive 103GB torrent file for a week now. Since there wasn't many seeds, it was extremely slow (about 100 - 200KB/s). Eventually got it downloaded and uncompressed. Here laid all 1220+ albums of Vocaloid music ever to be released to 27 January 2012. With 33 days approx. playing time, this will keep me going for a year probably. Although, I will probably skip most of the boring music, I will try and find some nice and catchy tunes to talk about on the blog.

Anyhow, enough about Vocaloid music, I've been having more fun using Linux Mint for some time now. I have barely touched my Windows 7 in a long time. I mainly use it for gaming and some quick Microsoft Access use. For everything else I just use Linux Mint. I think that Linux Mint is getting better with every release. One day it will take over Ubuntu to claim 3rd spot.

Moving on, just on to something less technical. The weather has been up and down lately. Suddenly getting hot during the day and freezing(not really) cold at night. Hey, I'm used to it. Haven't even caught a cold yet! Ahaha. So I've been busy watching Sherlock yesterday night and this morning. Just finished the first season. I've got to say, it is one really good TV show. Brought to you by Steven Moffat, which we all know is well-known from his contributions to Doctor Who. Speaking of that, I can't wait for this year's series!

Lastly, I am spending this last day of my holiday to just chill and relax. Also, having nice discussions about sick Linux themes with Rhycen. I recently got him to install Linux onto his desktop. I am still unsure if he likes it or not. I don't think he's going to use it much since he's an avid Windows gamer. Oh well. =/

Oops, I started talking technical again. This is technically a technical blog I guess. Not really. It's just about my random ramblings of randomness that I want to shout out to the world. So this ends my update for today. Uni starts tomorrow. I am happy about that! Finally something to keep me occupied for a little while longer. Oh how I'm going to miss my anime and games. XD

Linux Mint Reinstalled

Hello guys!

This morning I had my first glass of Bubble Tea in a very long time. I actually cooked the pearls and made the milk tea all by myself. I feel pretty happy about that. Anyhow, moving on to tonight's topic. The reason why I was so late in posting was that I was reinstalling Linux Mint onto my desktop and HTPC.

You see, my desktop has two hard drives in it. A 1TB and 320GB hard drive. My main 1TB has Windows 7 installed on it and my 320GB hard drive had Linux Mint 12. My HTPC originally had Windows 7 but that was taking up very little space on the 1TB hard drive. So in the end, I wiped both 320GB and 1TB(HTPC) hard drive and did a switch. So now, my desktop has two 1TB hard drives in it with Windows 7 and Linux Mint 12 installed and dual-booted. On the other hand, my HTPC now has a 320GB hard drive and Linux Mint 12 freshly installed. Wow, that was a rather large explanation. So now, I have got my desktop, HTPC and laptop all with Linux Mint 12. I guess I have turned into a Linux fanboy! Ahaha...so that's it for now. I'll be busy installing updates and redownloading software.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I just finished downloading a huge 103GB torrent this morning. Spent an entire week downloading it due to the lack of seeds. Anyhow, I will tell you more about that tomorrow. Stay tuned!

MegaBubbletea out.

Anime Review: Durarara!!

An interesting typical shounen style anime with some serious action sequences and mysteries surrounding the city that the characters inhabit. This is one of those anime that gets better as you watch.

In Tokyo's downtown district of Ikebukuro, amidst many strange rumors and warnings of anonymous gangs and dangerous occupants, one urban legend stands out above the rest – the existence of a headless “Black Rider” who is said to be seen driving a jet-black motorcycle through the city streets.

Ryuugamine Mikado has always longed for the excitement of the city life, and an invitation from a childhood friend convinces him to move to Tokyo. Witnessing the Black Rider on his first day in the city, his wishes already seem to have been granted. But as supernatural events begin to occur, ordinary citizens like himself, along with Ikebukuro's most colorful inhabitants, are mixed up in the commotion breaking out in their city.
Ok so the story was pretty confusing and boring with the first few episodes. You don't actually know what is going on until much later in the anime. You will discover many mysteries and interesting plot twists as the story unfolds. The story is quite deep to comprehend, you may have to do some pre-reading to understand what is going on. In the end, the story developed interestingly towards the end that will keep you engaged and wanting more.

The art style was uniquely different for this shounen anime. As expected, nothing about this anime is realistic art-wise. The over-toned environment with the use of special effects really stood out from this anime. The characters had over-exaggerated expressions and complete inhuman abilities. This is not a bad thing, but for a shounen anime, it's excellent.

Theme songs were catchy and well tuned for this anime. I liked how they integrated the "what happened previously" anime bits into the opening song, which reminds you what happened previously whilst you enjoy the opening song. Time not wasted in my opinion. I usually just skip the theme songs after listening to them a few times. Voice acting was accurate and of high quality. Really well done for this anime.

The characters were varied and mysterious all the same. You will not find out the character's true background until you have watched much later into the anime. You will also find out hidden truths and the complete story as you progress with the story. There is no clear protagonist or antagonist in this anime, it really depends how you view each and every character. It seems that this anime is trying to portray a more realistic view on society where good people can be bad and bad people can be good.

Overall, this anime is completely full of red herrings, surprises and emotions. It will get you thinking and in the end, it will make you shout, "Oh! I get it now!". It packs full of mysteries that you will not understand till the very end. The character are not what they seem, and there are many hidden truths hinted throughout the anime. This anime is suited more for shounen-type fans and people who love a bit of mystery and action.

A bit confusing at the start but you will understand a lot more once you have progressed through the anime. Good mysteries and red herrings thrown in.

ART: 9
Excellent artwork and animation. Character expressions and interactions are priceless.

Catchy theme songs and high quality voice acting.

It is hard to find a character you will like since each character has his/hers strong and weak points.

Confusing and boring at the start, but gets better as you watch.

Not bad for a complex anime. The story was well told and most questions were answered.

Project DIVA 2 Okaidoku Ban

Project Diva 2nd cover.jpgOk, so I've recently picked up my PSP again. The reason is that I've got nothing else to do and I felt like practising my Project DIVA skills again. I glad I resumed, because I recently got my first ever pass on 'Exteme' mode! Oh yeah! =D The song choice was of course 'Melt' by supercell. It is one of my favourite songs to play.

Anyhow, I've been practising hard every day, trying to get all my Normal and Hard modes completed for every song before I tackle the Exteme modes. It;s fun and lively. If you are a Vocaloid fan and just love the songs, this game is for you. You will need a PSP though. Although, there will be a Nintendo 3DS version of Project DIVA coing out soon. I don;t have one so I probably won't get it.

Anyway, osu! is also an excellent rhythm game for the Windows platform. You can play any song on it only if you have the beat map found on the website. I personally feel that playing rhythm games using a gamepad controller definitely is better than using a keyboard. Anyhow, that's just my preference. That's it for today, now back to playing Project DIVA whilst downloading some Vocaloid songs! (More about the Vocaloid songs later on. =P)

Anime Review: Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

A funny and cute anime about a a bunch of students and their interesting powers whilst surviving the daily struggles of school life. The story is decently interesting, but the characters and settings really makes this anime worth watching to the end. This review takes the entire Baka to Test to Shoujanjuu series into account.

Baka to Test to ShoukanjuuSynopsis:
The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the "baka" of the title. His academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. A girl named Mizuki Himeji is actually one of the smartest girls in Akihisa's sophomore year, but she had a fever on test day and was pigeonholed into the F class. Besides Mizuki (who Akihisa secretly adores), the F class also has Yuuji Sakamoto, the class president who has been Akihisa's friend and partner-in-crime since the freshman year.

The school happens to have developed experiments to summon fantasy creatures, and Akihisa decides to rally F class to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. The F class uses the summoned creatures in an all-out battle for school supremacy.

From watching this anime, I have learnt many things from crazy idiotic phrases to plain stupid jokes. What made me keep watching though was the interesting story and background setting on how the academy functioned. Since this is no ordinary academy and it featured special powers it appealed to me in some way. However, I do like the concept of the 'F' class taking on the higher classes to prove who's more superior.

The art I would say was decently illustrated. Not much to be admired by, just your standard typical anime art style. I must admit though, that the constant change of clothes and settings for characters added some spice to the anime. The battle simulations were good though, they really showed the difference between the battle mode and real life.

The voice acting was appropriate and memorable for each character. The sudden changes of moods and tone can be evidently heard by the voice cast. The theme songs were catchy enough but I completely forgot what they sounded since it has been a while from when I finished watching this anime. All I can say that, there are no problems here.

The characters varied to the most loud and meanest to the plain stupid boring ones. You will find a favourite character from these bunch of interesting characters. Also, you will definitely find a character you will come to love, hate, admire, envy, loathe and the list goes on. There seems to be always conflicts going on between characters as well as emotional turmoil and silly misunderstandings. It;s all part of the plot to keep you wanting to watch more.

In the end, all I can say, this is a humorous anime form start to finish. Many stupid moments along with much facepalming. Some annoying moments were evident as well. It really depends what type of person you are and how you view friendship, love and hate.

Its an interesting story with a few plot twists, but plenty of laughs and awkward moments that will keep you watching.

ART: 7
Above average as your typical anime. Good use of battle effects though.

Ok, so not that memorable theme songs were used. They were catchy though when you watch the anime. Voice acting was good too.

There's always that character you either love or hate to the extreme. This anime brings that type of character to you.

Its funny and cute and sometimes a bit disturbing. Its really up to you if you like it or hate it.

Its funny and disturbing in some parts. Overall, I did enjoy this anime to the end. Although I would have liked a more refined story, it was good anyway to enjoy for a while.

Anime Review: Kimi ni Todoke

A well-loved slice of life, romantic comedy anime featuring a easily misunderstood school girl with the most popular guy in class. The story takes on many different turns and in the end, everything works out well. This anime review takes the sequel, Kimi ni Todoke II into account.

Kimi ni TodokeSynopsis (1st Season):
Kuronuma Sawako is completely misunderstood by her classmates. Her timid and sweet demeanor is often mistaken for malicious behavior. This is due to her resemblance to the ghost girl from "The Ring", which has led her peers to give her the nickname Sadako. Longing to make friends and live a normal life, she is naturally drawn to Kazehaya Shouta, the most popular guy in class, whose "100% refreshing" personality earns him great admiration from Sawako. So when Kazehaya starts talking to her, maybe there is hope for the friendships Sawako has always longed for. Maybe...there is even a little hope for some romance in her future.

Synopsis (2nd Season):
The continuation of the first season. Sawako Kuronuma and her friends have just begun their second year of high school and they are in the same class together again. To make matters more interesting a male student newly transferred into their class is seated right next to Kuronuma and has taken an interest in her. What hurdles will Sawako and Kazehaya face next?

Both seasons provided a nice outlook in the character's lives. From the very beginning you will get to know the main character, Sawako, and her personality. At first she may seem a bit too self-critical, but as you watch the series, you will get to understand better the circumstances surrounding her and how she tries to break free from her problems in life. The first season mainly focusses on how she interacts and gets to know Shouta better. However, the second season brings about a new guy which in turn triggers a wide range of comedic events from love-triangles to complete embarrassing moments. The story is there, but not as you expected.

The art took a bit of time to get used to right from the beginning. The lack of shadows and textures of the characters really griped me. However, as I continued to watch, I got more accustomed to how this anime was presented. The background scenes were nicely drawn and the typical anime-style expressions were abundant in content. I wished that the characters were illustrated better.

The background music was acceptable but not that memorable, which is decent for a slice of life anime as usual. The theme songs were above average, so not much can be said of the soundtrack used in this anime. On the other hand, voice acting was superb which in turn portrayed the characters accurately.

The characters were memorable to me in many different ways. The main character, Sawako was definitely memorable due to her nature. The other characters were not so much memorable. They did have some spice in their personalities, but was a bit bland in the end. I did not find them memorable in anyway. You could say that some characters got a bit boring towards the end.

Overall, it was an enjoyable anime. The laughs were there and the silly moments were plenty. I can;t say that this is not a boring anime to watch, but be prepared for lots of facepalming and character-hating. It's that kind of anime that will make you either love or hate it.

STORY: 7 Decent story about Sawako and her life. Not so much about the other characters.

ART: 6
Above average. I couldn't really stand the character design and art style.

Slice of life anime featuring acceptable theme songs and background music. Not much to look forward to.

Some nice character interactions and personalities evidentially exist here.

Enjoyable to an extent. It might get a bit boring at times but there are some laughs that will keep you going.

Some nice bits of humour with romantic elements thrown in. The story was interesting enough to make me want to continue on.

Ubuntu for Android

Ubuntu for Android

Yes, I know I am a huge Linux Mint fan now, but I still respect the originators of Linux Mint, Ubuntu. This time they have announced an innovative idea that brings the Ubuntu platform to your phone.

When in your pocket the phone is the same as it always was: an Android device. But when the connected to a monitor (by way of a nifty looking dock) it launches into a fully fledged Ubuntu desktop running the Unity interface.

Unified Contacts on Ubuntu for AndroidBoth OSes share the same kernel – so this isn’t a case of an ‘Ubuntu’ app running atop Android or vice versa. Both run at the same time on the same device. The net result of this is a super efficient workflow.

Data and settings are consolidated and shared between the OSes; you can see and reply to SMS notifications through Ubuntu’s Messaging Menu; make and receive calls directly from the desktop; and search through your unified contacts in the Ubuntu Contacts Lens or through your Android address book.
You can even run your Android apps on the Ubuntu desktop (albeit in a special window).

With the smartphone already crowded as it is, I wonder how Ubuntu for Android will successfully implement the nice features found on the traditional desktop environment and cleanly transpose the system into a dual-booted Android devices. For me, I will still stay with Android. Good luck to Canonical!

My LUL #2

Linux Mint Lisa.pngSo it has been a long day for me. I've been helping my friend install and set-up Linux Mint on her laptop! It took less than half an hour for Linux Mint to install and a couple of additional hours to install the necessary programs. I am totally enjoying using Linux Mint both on my desktop and on my laptop. I consider Linux Mint a worthy opponent against Microsoft's Windows operating system and Apple's Mac OSX. If all games were compatible with Linux, I would definitely choose Linux over Windows any day. What more is that Linux can be very powerful if used correctly. It is not a toy to play with so you got to know what you are doing. In the end, I've managed to convince one person so far to make the jump from Windows to Linux. Not bad.

Anyhow, Linux aside, I am enjoying my last week of holidays. Yes, its been a long time since I last attended classes. I think I'm pretty glad that holidays are nearing its end and that it's time to go back to study for one final year. It will be exciting and I hope I can do the best I can in getting a good grade. I guess when uni starts, I will have no more time to play games or watch anime. Which makes me kinda sad. I will keep the blog alive though, but I probably won't post as much as I have done so far. Finally, I have also been playing 'Words With Friends' with my friends. Been pretty addictive so far, I've got a few friends that I have intense intellectual battles with. It's fun and addictive to play and compete against your friends. It's free on the Android Market and Facebook (and probably iOS). So anyhow, time for me to prep for uni!

MegaBubbletea signing off.

Anime Review: Kaichou wa Maid-sama!

A hilarious story about a high school girl that acts all touch and mighty but then secretly works at a Maid cafe. Interesting as it sounds, this will completely make you laugh so hard your stomach will hurt.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama!Synopsis:
Seika High School, once an all-boys school notorious for its wild students and for generally being a terrifying place for girls, has recently become a co-ed school. With the female population still a minority and living in fear of the over-the-top antics of the males, Misaki Ayuzawa takes it into her own hands to reform the school and allow the girls to feel safe in the rough environment.

Training, studying and even becoming the first female student council president of the school, Misaki has gained a reputation among the male students body as an uptight boy-hating dictator and as a shining hope for the teachers and fellow female students. However, despite her tough-as-nails appearance, she secretly works part-time at a maid cafe in order to support her family. Unfortunately, her hard-earned reputation is threatened when the popular, attractive, and somewhat impassive Usui Takumi takes an interest in her after discovering her in a maid uniform after school.

I must admit, I was pretty sceptical at the start of this anime. I though, this is going to be one weird anime. I as wrong. The unique setting and back story of the characters really made this anime interesting than other 'romcom' anime out there. The story was really hilarious and interesting from start to end. Every episode was just exciting to watch as the main protagonist tries using many different methods in order to cover up her secret whilst dreaming up funny scenarios and outcomes that may happen. The lives of these characters have never been so funnier.

The art was slightly average. Although the scenery and background art was of high quality, the characters themselves lack a bit of detail. In the end, that did not really matter as the characters were always in either their school uniform or some cosplay attire. I enjoyed laughing at every character even if they are not meant to be funny.

Voice acting was to the point and accurate. No complaints here. The theme songs were appropriate and the use of background music in various scenes really contributed to the overall mood that the anime brings out.

I can spend so much time telling you about all the characters but I won't bore you. Simply put, the characters were all memorable and humorous in their own way. I totally loved the main protagonist as she tried to hide her secret in which she is successful most of the time, but something embarrassing always ends up happening. The main male protagonist is pretty funny as well as he teases the  girl protagonist a lot. The misunderstandings are plenty and funny things always happen to all the characters. You will love the characters.

Overall, I really enjoyed this anime. Even though its a shoujo anime, I still enjoyed it every bit. The funny moments are funny, and the story never gets boring. Its definitely an anime you should watch and enjoy and take a laugh at. The romance is there, but not what you will expect.

Story is really well played out. Some minor details are left out but are not that important.

ART: 8
Well drawn art with fluid animations. Characters lack fine detail but can be easily overlooked.

Voice acting was spot on. Theme songs were appropriate and background music was well selected.

Loved all the characters, even the weird and disturbing ones.

Its totally finny in every way you look at it.

You have to love 'romcoms' to fully understand and appreciate this anime.

My Nendoroid

Hey guys!

Guess what!? I finally got my first ever Nendoroid!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~!! I was squealing like a girl. Serious. It's awkward now when I think about it. Anyhow, I guess I've become a huge Vocaloid fan now. Anyhow, here is a picture below.

Sorry about the quality. I just took a quick snap from my phone. I promise I will take better pictures sometime in the future. Anyhow, my Miku collection is complete (for now)!

Loving it,

Anime Review: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

With its interesting storyline and crazy characters, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is one hyped up anime. Aside from the endless spin-offs and alternate versions, the original is always the best.

Tengen Toppa Gurren LagannSynopsis:
In a far away future, mankind lives underground in huge caves, unknowing of a world above with a sky and stars.

In the small village of Jiha, Simon, a shy boy who works as a digger discovers a strange glowing object during excavation. The enterprising Kamina, a young man with a pair of rakish sunglasses and the passion of a firey sun, befriends Simon and forms a small band of brothers, the Gurren Brigade, to escape the village and break through the ceiling of the cave to reach the surface, which few believe exist.

The village elder won't hear of such foolishness and punishes the Brigade. However, when disaster strikes from the world above and the entire village is in jeopardy, it's up to Simon, Kamina, a girl with a big gun named Yoko, and the small yet sturdy robot, Lagann, to save the day.

The new friends journey to the world above and find that the surface is a harsh battlefield, and it's up to them to fight back against the rampaging Beastmen to turn the tide in the humans' favor! Pierce the heavens, Gurren Lagann!

What can I say about this anime. It is a crazy roller coaster ride from start to finish. The story has many plots and twists that will make you surprised with excitement or feelings of frustration. It is take king of story that will make you laugh and cry or both at the same time. The story is a bit much for a 27 episode anime hence the fast-tracked pace of the telling of the story. In the end, all I can say is that, the story arc brings many different emotions to you whether you like it or not.

The art was well done as expected for a sci-fi fantasy film. The visual effects were great and the clashes of metal against metal is simply stunning. The portrayal of the characters was somehow a bit over-the-top or slightly inappropriate for the theme of the anime. Could be just me though. The bots look awesome if not strangely humorous to look at.

Voice acting was excellent and the sound effects were of high quality and quantity throughout this anime. The theme songs and mid-episode breaks were catchy and I still have that catch phrase stuck in my head. (You will have to watch to find out what I mean).

The characters were memorable more or less on how you view them. Of course the girl with the revealing clothing comes to mind first, but the other main protagonists are just as memorable. The individual personalities and accomplishments are embedded to your mid as you watch every episode and discover more and more about the hidden past, new enlightenments and interesting resolutions.

Overall, I was hyped-up at how awesome it was at first, but after watching many episodes, that tensioned has died down. Some bits were really interesting, whilst others was downright disappointing. It is really up to you to decide if you are going to like this anime or not.

Good plot twists and back stories. Would have loved it if it was so much more simpler and straightforward, but then again, it would ruin the fun.

ART: 8
Good use of visual effects and fluid animations. Characters were different to each other.

Generally of high quality and appropriateness. The theme songs were catchy to an extent.

Some characters you will find annoying, others are just a pain, others you will come to love.

Got really hyped up at the start, but then it went downhill and uphill again. Like a roller coaster.

Its good, has some nice action scenes and story line. Just the lack of explanations in some bits was a bit disappointing. The plenty of dry jokes gets a bit lame in the end.

Anime Review: Kanon (2006)

A nice emotional story about a guy that goes back to his home town after been away for seven years whilst searching his lost memories of what happened in the past. It is a deep, sad story that will keep you occupied for many hours.

Kanon (2006)Synopsis:
As a young child, Aizawa Yuuichi had often visited his cousin in the city. However, something drastic happened to keep him away for seven long years. Now, Yuuichi returns, his memories of those days are simply gone.

Settling into the wintry town, Yuuichi comes across several young girls, all of whom are connected to his past. As he befriends them and continues to interact with them, the long forgotten memories from his childhood begin to resurface...

So, I'm not much of a big fan of sad stories, but once in a while is good for me. Kanon hits the right emotional spot that brings about finding lost memories and reliving in the past. The story is full of deep meaning and soul searching about the lives of the characters. Right from the start, you are unaware of the situation the main protagonist is in, but after encountering some many flashbacks, you start to realize the truth bit by bit. All I can say is that, this anime really touches on the reality of childhood friends that have drifted apart after growing up. This anime can bring lots of memories personally and it really touches the heart.

The art was beautifully illustrated in every way possible. The characters were detailed, the environments clearly stood out and the animations were fluid. The art style really suited the feeling and mood brought out by this anime.

Voice acting was perfect, not once will you get annoyed by a character. The soundtracks were nicely composed and was appropriate to the anime. I just realized how important the sound was during those really emotional scenes.

The characters at first seemed a bit out of place, but you will come to realize that they all have their own unique story and background. From the moment you first meet the character to the end, you will have totally different opinions about them. I was quite astonished at the change of personalities and predicaments of each of the characters.

Overall, this is one well composed anime from any angle you view at it. You have to watch this anime for its interesting story, beautifully illustrated art and unique cast.

Interesting story with many different twists and turns. However, the ending is unexpected and quite different from what you would initially think.

ART: 9
Really well animated art. Every aspect was of high quality. No frame rate drops or jagged edges.

Soundtracks were well sited for the many emotional scenes scattered throughout this anime. Voice acting was perfect.

Unexpected stories from the many characters in this anime.

Hey, its emotional yet funny in some places. The humour however, does not take away the seriousness from this anime.

A high 8 from me. It is really well animated and told. I would have liked it if there was more in-depth answers about some questions that were unanswered in the anime.

Zenonia 4

It seems like Gamevil has finally brought Zenonia 4 to Android. The game was a hit on the iOS platform and so it is now making its debut on Android. The best thing is that it is completely free (to download). There are some in-game cash shop which you can spend some real money on, but you can finish the game without spending a single cent. To top things off, this is the first Zenonia game to feature quality HD graphics as well as some other major improvements to the previous titles.

The story was a bit generic compared to the previous titles, but all is forgiven because of the awesome collection of equipment and skills to choose from.

Some nice features to Zenonia 4 are:

Explore the world in vivid HD, now with spectacular visuals and top-notch animations optimized for high quality displays.

nleash powerful combos and devastating skills with explosive graphical and aural flair.

Choose the best strategy and equip your Slayer, Blader, Ranger or Druid class hero with countless armor options, weapons and items.

Level up through Normal, Hard and Hell mode. Master the Fairy sync system and annihilate hundreds of normal and legendary monsters.

Tackle asynchronous online PvP with the new 2-on-2 arena battles or compete in the Abyss zone for loot drops, and hire other player data as mercenaries. The Execution Room and classic 1-on-1 rumbles also return.

Collect effect-boosting titles as you delve deeper into the secrets of ZENONIA®'s beloved characters.

Anyhow, I will play playing this game for a while now. I haven't actually finished any of the Zenonia titles yet, so I want to make this one my first. Zenonia 1 got too bland because of pixellated graphics. Zenonia 2 got too hard for me to continue on. Zenonia 3 was a freemium game and there were plenty of ads that chocked the game. Hopefully Zenonia 4 will be better. Anyhow, I will try to finish it as quickly as possible so I can give an in-depth review later on. For now, here's the link to the Android Market page. Have fun!

Anime Review: Planetes

A sci-fi space anime featuring a bunch of guys collecting space junk. Sounds boring? Hardly! It may sound that way, but how the story is presented and the interesting range of characters is what makes this anime not boring at all.

In the year 2075, mankind has reached a point where journeying between Earth, the moon and the space stations is part of daily life. However, the progression of technology in space has also resulted in the problem of the space debris, which can cause excessive and even catastrophic damage to spacecrafts and equipment. This is the story of Technora's Debris Collecting section, its EVA worker, Hachirota "Hachimaki" Hoshino, and the newcomer to the group, Ai Tanabe.

Ok, so its pretty hard to convince someone to watch an anime about people collecting garbage in space. However, this anime seems to tell a completely different story than just collecting space debris. There's plenty of romance and action seen throughout the anime. It's really hard to explain what is happening exactly in writing, but, all I can say is the story is touching in many ways.

The art was well illustrated in every form. The planets, space and satellites were precisely drawn to perfection. Even the space debris looked different from one another. Different locations were aplenty and you will never get bored of looking at space.

The voice acting was really well done by the voice actors. Even the change in environment had its own unique sound echo. Even when the characters were in their spacesuits, they actually sounded like they were in one (including the heavy breathing etc...).

The characters took a while to get used to. I say that because the story doesn't actually take off till episode 10. The episodes before that was to set the settings, introduce all the characters and give some important background information. After episode 10, not many new characters are introduced.

Overall, it may sound boring, as I did at first. I was wrong, I completely prejudged this anime. Even though I was a sci-fi fan, I never expected this anime to be excellently made.

It was a really interesting story from start to finish. I not once got bored watching too many episodes continuously. You must really watch every second of this story to enjoy this anime completely.

ART: 8
Well illustrated. Every component felt proper in its place, from the spaceships to the surface buildings.

High quality voice acting and sound effects were evident in this anime.

Interesting cast of characters throughout the anime.

I enjoyed this anime a lot. The story was really well told and the action was really great.

A high quality anime, suited for sci-fi fans specifically. It will not disappoint.

Anime Review: Working!!

A slice of life comedy anime revolving around a family owned restaurant and the interesting characters that work there. This review combines both Working!! and Working'!! as they can be considered as one long anime.

Set in a family restaurant in Hokkaido, the northern prefecture of Japan, 16-year-old high school student Souta Takanashi works part-time along with his strange co-workers: Popura Taneshima, a high school girl who's a year older than Souta, yet easily mistaken for an elementary/middle schooler, and Kyoko Shirafuji, the 28-year old store manager who doesn't bother to do any work at all.

So Working!! is your typical slice of life comedy anime featuring a bunch of characters and their basic dealings with life. What makes this anime different from the rest is that the main setting is in a restaurant. Nearly every episode is always set in the same restaurant. You may find that boring, however, the different characters and their dealing with each other can be pretty interesting. In the end, there really is no plot. Its you looking at their lives and laughing about it.

The art was above average, just like your typical slice of life anime. Nothing too fancy and nothing too bland. Nothing much else could be said of the art design, but the environment gives really good detail overall. Each person on-screen has been carefully animated and drawn out, so you won't see any 'missing' people on-screen.

Voice acting was perfect with some minor annoyances here and there. I was really surprised that one of the voice actors was actually sampled as the popular Hatsune Miku. I did not find this out until much later after finishing the series.

The characters were interesting to an extent, and then it just got kind of repetitive. The never ending teasing and paybacks are a plenty throughout his anime. The characters just seem to lack enough personality to actually make you want to love them. In the end, the characters were not that memorable.

Overall, the anime can be considered as a 'filler' for when you have extra time or just plain bored. The lack of close relationships and communication between the characters can make you frustrated at times. However, in the end you get a few laughs and some emotional times.

There really is no plot. Just a bunch of people working in a restaurant.

ART: 7
Some good details in the anime. The characters were distinctively drawn well.

The theme songs were really catchy, but that's about it. Voice acting was good too.

Some characters were funny, some others were plain annoying. It's really how you view them that makes them who they are.

There are some funny bits, but not many.

Ok, so I enjoyed the funny bits and the occasional misunderstandings that happen. This anime is really for your free time to watch.
