Linux Tycoon - A Simulation Game

What is Linux Tycoon? Well, the same says it all. It is basically a Linux distro building simulation game. Yep. That's it. Somehow, this simple game has got me addicted for a few days now. I think I do have a thing for simulation games. Let me explain what this game actually is and how its played.

Well, the main goal is trying to get your distro to be the #1 Linux distro in the world. Sounds simple? Not really, you will be also managing packages, workers, release versions all the while fixing bugs and gaining popularity. Also, random events will occur here and there to either boost your ratings or drag you down.

Update Annoucement
“In the coming days you’ll be able to compete against other Linux Distros around the world, in real-time,” the developer, Bryan Lunduke announced on the Linux Tycoon webpage. “Making Linux Tycoon the worlds first MMOLDBSG (Massively Multiplayer Online Linux Distro Building Simulation Game).”

What? How is that even possible? Oh, I get it. Basically competing with other players across the internet to see who can get their distro to #1. Well, that sounds interesting and challenging. I can't wait for the update! The online feature will appear in an update due ‘in the coming days’ – so if you anyone already own the game keep a look out for it.

Online gameplay will be subscription free – if you’ve bought the game you’re entitled to play – and the current ‘single player mode’ will remain available for those not wanting to play against others. In addition, Lunduke will also be release ‘Linux Tycoon Server’ for free. This will enable players to run their own “world” independent of the ‘official’ online server.

I'm sorry but the game is not free, but it only costs $4! That is like the price of your average bubble tea! The game is currently in beta so expect some bugs. It is also DRM-free so you can redownload many times as you like. Support Lunduke by buying his game! Show your support to the independent developers who spend so much time and energy to bring you their projects for you to enjoy!
